construction

The Mara Tank is worked bottom-up, beginning with the body hem and knitted to the underarms. The body is split to work the back and front flat and separately to shape the underarms and neckline. The front is split for the crew neckline that gradually decreases to create the straps. The straps are seamed to the back panel, then stitches are picked up around the neckline and armholes for ribbing, finishing each in tubular bind off.

    This pattern requires a working knowledge of: knitting & purling both flat & in the round, decreasing, picking up stitches, short row shaping, seaming or 3 needle bind off, tubular bind off, and reading a simple chart.

    Circular needles are used to work in the round for the body, then split to work flat for the top. The straps are then joined together. and stitches are picked up and knitted for the neckband and armholes.
